In the early hours of Thursday morning, at approximately 1:30 A.M. members were dispatched to a brush fire by the Gallatin Town Hall. High winds in the area had caused a tree to fall ripping a live wire down to the ground sparking a fire. Luckily a passerby saw the flames traveling up the hill side. Ancram Fire Company members responded with 79-66, 79-70, 79-60 and 79-31 quickly to cut off the flames from spreading more. Approximately half an acre had burned and with the winds members from Taghkanic Fire Company were dispatched to assist. Ancram members were able to extinguish the active fire and Taghkanic members were able to assist with hotspots and creating a barrier between the burned and unburnt sections of brush and leaves. Central Hudson responded to deal with the wire, during that time members from Ancram and Taghkanic returned to their quarters to warm up and clean equipment. Ancram responded a few hours later once central hudson had repaired the line and without the threat of electricity, more water was sprayed on the area. |
