The burn ban is in full effect, the area is still extremely dry and two different brush fires got started in town. The first brush fire started along the side of the road possible from a cigarette that spread to a field, at approximately 14:00, Thursday afternoon. 79-20 and 79-30 were on scene to extinguish the blaze. The second brush fire came later at approximately 16:30 when a pile of debris was burning, the wind helped spread the fire over a small knoll and into a large field. Ancram was assisted with this larger fire by Copake Fire Company and Taghkanic Fire Company, multiple units were able to fight back the fire and contain it quickly before it spread to any buildings or heavily wooded areas Please be mindful of how dangerous these conditions are and that the slightest spark can cause a lot of damage. The burn ban has been declared during a state of emergency, no burning of any kind please!
